Reflecting on a Successful 2019 and Looking Ahead to 2020
Our Managing Director, Adam Taylor, reflects upon another successful year for Taylor Packaging and provides insight into his vision for 2020.
How would you summarise 2019?
2019 has been an exciting and eventful year for Taylor Packaging! We experienced continuous growth, acquired new clients, strengthened our sales team with three new appointments and bolstered our product portfolio which has enabled us to diversify into new markets. In addition, we also launched our new brand and website which truly reflects the company we are today.
What’s been your biggest business highlight this year?
The launch of our new brand and website has helped to strengthen our proposition as a trusted packaging partner. The new website gives us an ideal platform to publicise our expertise, engage with our customers and communicate the benefits of our products and service. The whole process has allowed us to evaluate our strengths and weaknesses in depth and helped us gain a better understanding of our position in the market. We are looking forward to seeing the impact that our new brand and website will have on our business in 2020.
Is there a business lesson you’ve learnt in 2019?
As the business has grown and we have embarked on new projects, we have learned that projects are managed more effectively when individuals take ownership and ask for support when required rather than the whole team getting involved in every project.
What changes have you witnessed within the industry in 2019?
Sustainable packaging has become a growing trend in the industry and there is an increasing number of businesses looking to go green in order to have a positive impact on the environment, but also to enhance their reputation and brand image. By giving consumers an opportunity to make a positive contribution towards helping the environment, your products become more desirable to a wider audience. At Taylor Packaging we supply a range of compostable and biodegradable packaging products and we are looking to add to this range in 2020.
In addition, we also witnessed uncertainty, due to dates for Brexit being confirmed and then extended. This led us to overstock in preparation for potential delays in supply from mainland Europe to ensure we provided a continuity to our national and international customers. There were also some false peaks in sales throughout the year due to the changing Brexit deadlines.
What industry changes or advancements do you anticipate for 2020?
I expect the demand for sustainable packaging products to become even greater during 2020. With the current threat of climate change growing continuously stronger each year, the need for eco-friendly packaging alternatives has never been greater. I anticipate more paper-based and compostable products being manufactured, not just in 2020 but for the foreseeable future.
Looking ahead, what will 2020 bring for Taylor Packaging?
We hope to continue this period of growth, further boost our customer base and enhance our presence in newly entered markets. We are confident that with the introduction of our new brand and website, coupled with our growth strategy we will be able to achieve this in 2020.
It goes without saying that the new year will bring with it some new challenges for Taylor Packaging and the industry in general, such as keeping up to date with new product demands and the continued uncertainty of the economical future of the UK and its relationship with the EU.
However, we have strong relationships with our clients, and we believe that with our industry knowledge, experience and high standards we will continue to provide the right packaging solutions for our all customers.
